Shimul Saha

As a visual artist Shimul interested in tangible materials, although sometimes intangible ideas result through sound and video works. Experience of Visual Art is a distinguished world for him. Hence, every time he likes to explore different materials to produce his work. He selects materials and techniques according to his work notions. Work’s technique depends on the material and material follows the concept. Thus the material plays a vital role in his artwork. His art practice is based on experiment that develops through research. Investigation is an important part of his creation. Sometimes he produce bodies of work through series, where experiment and variation of materials are visible in terms of research quality. Usually he tries to go through studies to come up with ideas. He does not believe in getting stuck in one medium to create artwork.

‘Being an artist, if I interpret my creation, I would say that they are related to Natural, Social, Biological, Psychological and Political issues of my surroundings, what works as a source of data to execute my thoughts. Every work is an illustration of a notion and that notion comes from my surroundings.’
