Existence survives through three time periods; present, past and future.
After passing the present time, somebody becomes the past and leaves examples for the future. Basically, food is the reason for the present existence of a human body, what keeps us alive and belongings are the proof of the past, what works as a representative of the future as well.
Over here, both of them are working together to illustrate someone's existence.
