What connects us to each other, to the world, and to ourselves?
In Conjunctions, Suruchi Choksi offers a profound meditation on the interwoven nature of existence, exploring themes of interdependence, impermanence, and the illusory boundaries between self and other.
Rooted in philosophical inquiries and influenced by the artist's spiritual practice, the works draw on the principle of Dependent Origination – the understanding that nothing arises or exists independently. Through ink, water, light, sound, image, and text, the exhibition becomes a contemplative exploration of interconnectedness – that every action, form, and thought arises from the convergence of causes and conditions.
Emerging from a time of isolation, the works unfold as a dialogue between poetry and image, stillness and motion, presence and void. Language dissolves into form, blurring the line between the tangible and the intangible. From delicate ink paintings that dance with transience to sculptural and neon works that challenge perceptions, each work gestures towards the true nature of reality.
Conjunctions reflects this co-existence of elements. Much like syntactical links that unite disparate parts of language, these artworks serve as junctions, inviting us to witness the inseparability of all things. Guided by a practice of surrender and meditative presence, Choksi invites viewers to move from the illusion of separation toward an understanding of oneness.
In this space, no single story dominates. Instead, the exhibition becomes a constellation of moments —
painted, photographed, cast, and drawn — serving as reminders of our shared essence through the interplay between medium and mind.
