For Art Exposure, established by Somak Mitra, what began as a series of off-site exhibitions crystallised into a 7,000sqft gallery space in 2024. Its programme explores Indian Modernism and contemporary art, backed by archival research, curatorial endeavours and scholarship programmes. Collaborations with artists, estates, collectors and institutions, enable them to delve into the whole gamut of South Asian art. One of their core pursuits is to spotlight lesser known yet historically important artists, bringing them and their work to the forefront on global platforms and into contemporary discourses. Archival projects, exhibitions and publications emerging from the gallery are rooted firmly in longstanding curatorial engagements, placing an emphasis on provenance, context and historical relevance. Their international presence has steadily increased and now they are set to participate in Frieze Seoul, the only gallery from India this year to do so.
