M.F. Husain’s paintings have a natural magnetic pull. His bold forms, colours and calligraphic outline have a lasting impression on the viewer’s mind. Though not the immediate display at Art Exposure, we found ourselves guided by the pull, running our eyes on the contours of an untitled 10-foot oil on canvas, with a signature in Bengali at the left corner. The master painter’s piece was more prominent in dim lighting, reminding us of Amdavad Ni Gufa in Ahmedabad, where Husain’s strokes brought alive the walls of the cave designed by renowned architect Balkrishna Vithaldas Doshi.
