When I walked into Gallery Art Exposure in Kolkata on the opening day of ‘Memory Leaves’ curated by Uma Nair, it also happened to be the Bengali New Year. The exhibition space was bumbling with a contagious energy very specific to young artists, especially those who have ushered in a new language of creative expression that often holds up a mirror to our surroundings. A rather propitious moment, I must admit, as the spirit of all things new aligned seamlessly under a single roof in a city that is ironically said to be stuck in time.
