Going beyond the river Ganga which travels many worlds, Jayasri Burman’s Rivers of Faith opening at Bikaner House on 12th December is the stuff of history, memory and experience. For more than 30 years she has been traversing the alchemy of nature and its many stories born of mythology and literature and history and fiction in her works that weave into the landscape of nature as it brings alive flora and fauna and a feast for the senses. These stories on monumental canvasses are born of and from the many lives of the river Ganga. The riverine ripples are seen in the way she punctuates her monumental canvasses with stories that flit and float through the tapestry of time.
